The Rules!

Rule #1: No vandalism of pages and content - ZERO TOLERANCE HERE! Any member found vandalizing entries on our site will be banned for life and published and shame listed on our (Google searchable) online shame list for perpetuity. This list will be search engine optimized for maximum impact in search rankings listed with your personal name, so if you value your online reputation please respect the written work of others and ourselves on this site.

Rule #2: No Malicious Code or programming - ZERO TOLERANCE HERE! Any member found loading up malicious code or progamming that has or acts as a viruse, malware, spamware or any code considered unethical and manipulative on our site will result in that user being banned for life and published and shame listed on our (Google searchable) online shame list for perpetuity. This list will be search engine optimized for maximum impact in search rankings listed with your personal name, so if you value your online reputation please respect the written work of others and ourselves on this site. You are only permitted to use code that is approved by the Music Industrapedia Council and Wikidot.

Rule #3: No Spamming please. Do not encroach on other pages outside of your own (i.e. Yes you can create pages for these) unless they are relevent to the topic and are not disproportionate or exaggerated in their importance to the topic at hand (e.g. 'My band 'Y' was the greatest band ever to play at the Corner Hotel Richmond even though only 50 people knew about us'. Ye Olde reserves the right to down play the importance of these by excluding them from 'main lists' for editorial reasons. Please note the rules of 'Noteability' will apply in some cases by our panel of industry experts or senior moderators.

Rule #4: No defamatory comments. Let's keep it nice and civil and be constructive in your criticism if there has to be some.

Rule #5: No Bad behavior such as trolling, phishing, etc and the usual things we associate with bad internet manners. Serial pests or trouble makers will be banned.

Rule #6: Do not reference the following sites in Industrapedia due to the problems outlined on this list Industrapedia - DO NOT Link List.

Rule #7: No Self Promotion except for allowed projects. Allowed projects include having external gig listing site or an external online music store that does not violate the integrity of Music Industrapedia (see industrapedia-do-not-link-list. Product media releases are OK as long as they are only listed as a small text information entry or are a thumbnail of the external link. No banner ads or visual adds of any kind are allowed unless they are booked through Music Industrapedia and paid for in advance see Do Business With Us. Music Artists and Music Artists who violate this rule will have their pages edited and locked and will have to pay for advertising fees to regain access to their page. Repeat offenders with be suspended or banned from our site and those pages in question will be permanently locked by the industrapedia music council with access available only by submission.
Please remember that we can see the identity of every user who makes an edit on our pages no matter how insignificant.

Rule #9: Web Portalling (iFraming etc)- Only official web portaled sites allowed. This includes the official web site for the music artist, musicians or music outfit being profiled on our site as well as these other sites: Wikipedia, Myspace, Reverbnation, Rate Your Music, Discogs, see our full list at our Approved Links List. Other pages will be allowed if they relate in an encyclopedic way to the subject in question and are not sub-spamming sites, any such sites will remain at the sole discretion of the industrapedia music council. Certain popular Music Sites such as Rovi's 'All Music Guide' and Last FM are not to be used because they inviolate the operational integrity of Music Industrapedia by locking up our page to theirs by bypassing our original content page for the music artist / music outfit to their own page through the use of content management bots when portalling is attempted. We respect their right to not be portalled, but we will not tolerate this behavior to over-ride our own content. See also industrapedia-do-not-link-list.
