MUSIC MEDIA: MUSIC PRESS - UK
Melody Maker was a weekly British music newspaper founded in 1926 by composer, publisher Lawrence Wright, which over time dominated the British music press as one the most important music news publications along with its rival NME (New Music Express); which it merged with in the year 2000. Although it first covered dance bands and Jazz in its earlier decades, it eventually embraced the Rock and Pop market in the late 60's targetting the older rock readership and leaving pop coverage to its NME rival.
