ABOUT THEM:

The Sound started in 1963 as a predominantly instrumental band that moved to a vocal covers band early in 1964. It started with Mick Elliott - lead guitar, Ray Ferris - Bass, Rob Greaves - rhythm guitar, Alec Ferris - Drums (1963 - 1964). In 1964 the band changed line-up and Mark Barnes joined on bass and Les Taylor joined on drums.

Toward the end of it's life, Mark Barnes left the group and was replaced by John Sullivan on bass and vocals.

The group played in and around Melbourne covering the music that was being recorded by the British Beat groups of the day.

It folded in early 1965 and reformed as the The Moppa Blues when the group decided to become a predominantly blues based band. It was at this time John Sullivan left to join the Rondells, and Mark Barnes rejoined.
