ABOUT HIM:

Glenn Miller (1904-1944) is a name which instantly associated with the song which brought him fame, 'In The Mood'. Glenn Miller began playing the trombone in his teens and dropped out of university to pursue a music career. Playing clubs in New York and Los Angeles in the 1920s and 30s, he performed with some of the biggest names of the era, including Benny Goodman. He evolved his own smooth, big band sound, built around the saxophone, and scored smash hits with In The Mood and Tuxedo Junction. In WWII he led the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band entertaining Allied troops in Europe, at concerts and on radio. His fame was at its zenith when the military transport aircraft he was aboard disappeared in 1944. His life was celebrated in the movie The Glenn Miller Story (1954) with James Stewart in the title role.
