MUSIC VENUES - MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
The Tote is a popular live music venue in Melbourne on the corner of Wellington street and Johnston Streets Collingwood which was the focus of a political campaign for the SLAM public rally in early 2010. At the time of the rally the venue was managed by Bruce Milne who had to close down the venue due to Victorian Governments strict licensing laws.
As a result of the rally the Victorian Government eased liquor licensing requirements for The Tote, but it was too late for Bruce Milne. As as result a new promoter has since taken over the venue and The Tote is open for business with a similar live music format as it early incarnation.
