ABOUT THEM:

Essence Of Ascentic were a rap rock and pioneering rap metal outfit within Canada who were based in Ottawa and whose early works within the emerging genre at the time were described by Montreal Mirror as saying "a new trend has come" also featured in the Toronto and Ottawa Sun and Canada's Vancouver Sun. The indie success of Essence Of Ascentic at the time which sold over 25,000 inde copies of there c.d. world wide caught the attention of Attic Records who were distributed by MCA at the time and later by Universal Music who signed them. The band was managed by Faith Rayah and Rodney Nelson.

They recorded their debut album at Pebbles Studio (Ottawa) which was owned by Peter Gilroy. And the album was produced by Dan Murray. Stand out tracks on the album included 'Time Stands Still' and 'Sara'.

With a major label and distributor behind the band hit high on the Canadian charts and they toured 39 countries and played in many festivals around the world during their career. The sound and style of 'Essence Of Ascentic' was an early contributor to the genre of Rap Metal, a style which was later made more popular by other bands such as Linkin Park.
